How Do Car Seats Fit in a 2024 Nissan Rogue?

Posted at Wed, Jul 24, 2024 5:30 PM

A common reason to buy one vehicle over another is how well it can fit a child’s car seat. Not all cars are created equal here, as some brands and models don’t seem to prioritize car seats. While all modern cars have the LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), some vehicles are easier than others to use, such as the brand-new 2024 Nissan Rogue

How Good Is The Rogue With Car Seats?

In a recent test by Cars.com, the refreshed Nissan Rogue scored very well with all types of car seats in different positions. The rear outboard seats have the LATCH system and are easily accessible, even allowing for an extra anchor in the middle seat position. In four out of five use cases and tests, the Rogue was given an A grade and a B in one test. Below is the type of seat, the grade it was given, and a quote from Cars.com as to why.

The Car Seats Used

When checking the fit of car seats, Cars.com uses the Chicco KeyFit 30 infant-safety seat and the Graco Contender 65 convertible seat with the Graco TurboBooster seat.

A Ratings

The categories where the Rogue scored A grades were when using the infant seat, rear-facing convertible, booster seat, and the overall accessibility and ease of use of the LATCH system. An A grade in Cars.com’s grading scale means “Plenty of room for the car seat and the child; doesn’t impact driver or front-passenger legroom. Easy to find and connect to Latch and tether anchors. No fit issues involving head restraint or seat contouring. Easy access to the third row.”

A Flurry of Compliments

The ease of use received numerous compliments, such as the author's statement that, when using the infant child seat, “The Rogue’s roomy backseat meant that we had plenty of room to accommodate our rear-facing infant seat without impacting our 5-foot-6-inch front passenger’s legroom.”

One B Grade

The only B grade given to the 2024 Nissan Rogue was for the forward-facing convertible. They said, “The convertible seat installed easily in its forward-facing position, but we downgraded its overall rating because we had to dig around to expose the tether anchor in the seatback’s upholstery.” So, there was nothing wrong with using a forward-facing convertible, except that it may take a minute to get to the anchor.
